Commonwealth Scholarship in the United Kingdom 2009 offered by University Grants Commission of Bangladesh for Postgraduate. Requirement:Categories of Scholarships: a) One year taught masters courses or equivalent degrees. b) Six months of clinical training in medicine or dentistry. c) Doctoral degrees, of up to three years duration. d) One year research on a split-site basis. towards a Ph.D registered at a university in Bangladesh. Applications are open for all subjects(most be linked to the development priorities of the country.) Regarding subject of study, candidates should mention broad subject, the subject on which he/she has obtained first degree/terminal degree. A first degree of first class(GPA 3 out of 4 or GPA 4 out of 5) honors level or a degree of first class (GPA 3 out of 4 or GPA 4 out of 5) and a relevant postgraduate degree. Asian Youth Fellowship offered by Japanese Government for Postgraduate. Requirement:Bangladeshi citizen. Under 35 years of age. Academic backgrounds: University or college graduates with a bachelors degree or Masters degree (those who will graduate from a university or college by the Registration Day of AYF may apply, but the grants may be CANCELLED if grantees fail to arrive in Kansai on the starting day of the preparatory course.). Other requirements: Good proficiency in English is required. Military men and military civilian employees registered on the personnel list are excluded. Applicants should be in good health. The applicant whose spouse has already won a Japanese Government scholarship will not be selected as a grantee, and likewise in the case of a couple applying at the same time. The applicant who has been awarded a Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) scholarship in the past will not be selected as a grantee unless he/she has had a few years' research or teaching experience after returning to his/her country. Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) 8th Batch offered by Japan International Cooperation Center for Postgraduate. Requirement:Nationality: Bangladeshi Nationals. Age: (as of April 1, 2009) Below forty (40) years of age (Born on/after April 2, 1969) Work experience: (as of April 1, 2009) ♦ Public Administration, ♦ International Relations, ♦ Environmental Policy: To be a confirmed member of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Cadre with two (2) years of work experience in Government Service. ♦ Economics: To be a confirmed member of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Cadre with two (2) years of work experience in Government Service or permanent staff of Bangladesh Bank with two (2) years of work experience in Bangladesh Bank. NB: All candidates have to apply through proper channels. Academic background: Completed sixteen (16) years of school education with at least Bachelors degree At least two (2) First Division or equivalent with no Third Division. English proficiency: 1. IELTS 6.0 / CBT (Computer-Based TOEFL) 213 / PBT (Paper-Based TOEFL) 550 or above. 2. Those who do not have above score and pass 1st Selection are required to take IELTS at the 2nd Selection. Holders of valid certificate issued after April 1, 2007 will be exempted from taking IELTS at the 2nd Selection. Permission and others ♦ Applicants must obtain permission for their application from controlling supervisor (Prescribed Form) ♦ For BCS Cadre Officials:To be a Government Official in BCS Cadre, successfully completed necessary Foundation Training Course by the time of application, and eligible to get the deputation for full period of preparatory training and study before the departure to Japan. ♦ For Bangladesh Bank Officials:To be a permanent staff AND eligible to get study-leave or deputation for full period of preparatory training and study before the departure to Japan. Ineligibility: 1. Those who have been awarded or are scheduled to receive other scholarship. 2. Those who have already obtained Masters degree overseas. 3. Military personnel and military civilian employees registered on the active list and personnel on temporary leave from the active list. 4. Applicants who are temporary staff and cannot get study-leave for full period of time before the departure to Japan. Other Important Information 1. Final candidates who passed the final selection MUST participate in the full-time Pre-departure Japanese Language Training in Dhaka for about two (2) months. The failure to attend the Training will result in the cancellation of scholarship accordingly. Also, during training period, completion of daily homework is imposed for all candidates. 2. Final candidates have to submit pledges in affidavit form, which declares to stay in Bangladesh at least for two (2) years and contribute to the development of Bangladesh after completing the masters degree. 3. The scholarship will be cancelled if a fellow fails to arrive at Japan at designated date. No late/early departure to Japan will be accepted under any circumstances. 4. JDS fellows are NOT allowed to invite their dependents (spouse/children) for the initial six (6) months. All the procedures required for dependents stay in Japan with fellows after 6 months shall be carried out by themselves. 5. After arriving at Japan, JDS fellows are requested to obtain permissions to return to their home countries. 6. JDS fellows are NOT allowed to enter doctoral course continuously after the completion of Masters degree. To apply for doctoral course during JDS fellowship is prohibited.
